Chinese tech company Xiaomi has opened its new authorized retailer store in SM Megamall to much fanfare, and we’re there to check out what makes it different from the first one located up north in TriNoma.
The second Mi store is located right at one of the mall’s Cyberzone entrances just beside the OPPO concept store, and it is very spacious if we’re going to compare it to the one that opened last month. There’s a lot more area to freely roam around and check on the available smart appliances, audio gear, and other devices on display.
Each area has different showcases. The ones at the back are for lifestyle and connectivity products such as bags and travel cases and include their Mi TVs, Mi Boxes and Mi routers and WiFi repeaters.
The rightmost alley, if you’re facing the store, has the smart home appliances including air purifiers, bedside lamps, electric kettles, and even rice cookers.
Xiaomi’s devices and other handheld gizmos are all placed at various areas of the store, with the new Redmi 5 and 5 Plus having its own spotlight with a dedicated table right at the store’s entrance.
At another showcase are the company’s flagships including the Mi Mix, Mi Mix 2, and Mi 6 phones, as well as their traveling bikes and scooters.
Mi Notebooks, Bluetooth audio devices, and Yi dash cameras are placed near the counter area.
We visited the place twice — one during the opening hours and another around night time — and the people who are checking out the displayed units are becoming lesser and the queues getting shorter the second time around.
Overall, this place is quite a joy to roam around given that there are plenty of things to try out before purchasing — that is, if the crowd is not as huge as the one we’ve seen during the grand opening. Grimalkin’s new Mi Authorized store in Megamall is recommended for those who wanted to try out Xiaomi’s offerings with more devices on display given the store’s bigger size.

As we were planning to go to the branch earlier to finally buy the Mi Notebook Pro, we decided to give the branch a call first. Sadly, we were informed that the i5 model is no longer available and they only have the i7 (only 8GB) one. As we gave the Trinoma branch a call, we were also informed that there are no stocks for Mi Notebook Pro at all. Hoping they would restock soon. Can’t wait to add yet another Xiaomi product to my Mi Urban Backpack.
