BPI expands barcode cash deposit service to Robinsons Retail stores

Listen to article

BPI is expanding its barcode-based cash deposit service through Robinsons Retail Holdings Inc. (RRHI) stores nationwide.

The service allows customers to deposit cash by generating a barcode through the BPI app and presenting it at participating stores. BPI said the feature will be available in more than 1,000 RRHI stores by the end of the year.

Customers can deposit up to ₱15,000 per transaction and up to five times daily, depending on the partner store. BPI added that transactions are free of charge.

To use the feature, customers need to open the BPI app, select “partner store transactions,” choose “deposit,” and enter the amount. A barcode will then be generated, which must be presented at a participating store within one hour.

The bank said deposits can be made without using a debit card. The service also supports deposits to another BPI account.

BPI said the rollout is part of its agency banking expansion, allowing customers to access banking services in retail stores.
