Smart yesterday launched a new PC and mobile IM app called Smart Uzzap (probably a Web 2.0 play on the Tagalog term “usap” or talk). The app/service seems to aim into the PC-to-mobile (and vice versa) messaging market.
The app can be downloaded/installed directly into your mobile phone and will run via a 3G connection to initiate the mobile messaging (can’t seem to make it work via WiFi of the phone). The catch — there’s no connection/browsing/3G charges at all, just a one-off time-based package pricing.
Smart Uzzap has a chat, email and SMS component and from now until July 20th, users can send 10 free SMS each day. Uzzap can also connect to your contacts on other popular messengers. It does not say which ones but I’m guessing Yahoo! Messenger.
After the promo period, you can top-up Php25 for 1 whole day of free service (plus 100 SMS), Php150 for 1 week (with 500 SMS) and Php400 for 1 month (with 2,000 SMS). All free SMS usage will have to come thru Uzzap though.
Update: Jim Ayson, Smart Product Manager for Platforms & Internet Services, adds that Uzzap can connect to your YM and MSN messengers as well a supports up to 4 clients (Nokia S60 2nd ed, Nokia S60 3rd ed, J2ME, and Windows XP/Vista. You can also login via your mobile phone’s wifi connection. And no, Uzzap wasn’t made to replace Chikka. See comment #20 below.)

@ uzzap, tnx may download naman po ako sa pc so far so good naman ang gamit ko sa uzzap mas matipid kesa sa Chikka, i recommend it also sa mga kasama ko dito sa work. i already dl too the new mobile version Java platform Uzzap 2.0 i will try to install it today with my phone.
@levs punta ka po sa link na to if pc ang gamit mo–> www.uzzap.com mag log-in ka diyan, pwede mo na gamitin yung uzzap diyan, kung gusto mo naman na iinstall mo,.. san ba? sa pc or sa phone? punta ka lang din sa www.uzzap.com hanapin mo sa tab DOWNLOAD select mo sa ulit sa upper side ng ” DOWNLOAD TO YOUR MOBILE ” yung tabs, select mo if gusto mo pang pc, ganun, search mo diyan :) nandiyan po lahat ng kailangan mo, if nagkakaron ka ng problema sa connection mo while connecting sa uzzap via PC ibig sabihin po may problema internet mo :)

then may narecive akong notice formm uzzap admin available na ang UZZAP mobile ver. 2.0 saan ko pede mai-download ito.

Hey guys i install uzzap using the JAVA file it runs smoothly in my LG KM555e using wi-fi, i am here in china and try to use it using EDGE but no luck ang tagal at laging DC. and i install it also in my pc and its ok.
Ang problema lang yung sa receiver laging nalolobat ang cp pag ginagamit ang uzzap apps. kelan kaya magkakaroon ng stable apps eto till now beta version pa rin, any update guyz.
i wonder if there already has uzzap for s60v5. i tried connecting to uzzap via jabber but it is asking for DNS server something. help please. thank u :)
i am just wondring if uzzap supports my LG KS360 phone?? i tried downloading itn twice but it says that ‘unsupported content format..’ i really am looking forward to use it.. please update me through my phone.. 092198*****.. thanks.. :)

Nag-Uuzzap ako… pero may charge na. Hay, mas maganda kung wala eh. Paano ba mag uzzap na 10php per day? Sabi pwede magsend ng photo, eh papaano naman kaya yun? Paturo naman mga uzzapers oh..
