Video shows how fast Galaxy Note 7's iris scanner is

Listen to article

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is just a few weeks away from its formal announcement and little by little, we are already seeing the full picture of what’s in stored for us. This time, the alleged iris scanner ala Microsoft Lumia 950 XL gets shot on a short demo.

If a phrase password, number PIN, line pattern, or even a fingerprint scanner is not enough for unlocking and securing your device (and a lot of personal information), then Samsung’s inclusion of an optical iris scanner is the cherry on top of your needs. Check out the video below:

Within just a second, the Galaxy Note7 can detect and scan the user’s iris. If enabled, the handset will access the front camera upon unlocking your phone and do its thing.  According to some sources, the scanner works if the unit is held 25 to 35 cm or about 10-inches to 14-inches away from the face.

We find the iris scanner redundant as a fingerprint scanner is already present in the handset. But hey, Samsung is yet to show us its plans for its new security feature. The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is launching worldwide on August 2 with a local Unpacked event happening on August 3.

I really dont care about the iris scanner or even the fingerprint scanner, All im excited about is that the earfone jacks are now at the bottom, Woohooooo. Im currently using my note 4 and before that S3, S4, S5 and i really hate the jacks at the top. Its awkward to use, bottom is more logical. I dunno why it took a while before samsung followed what apple did some models back
