Google and Apple are working together to make it easier for users to switch between Android and iOS devices, according to a new report. The first signs of this update appeared in the latest Android Canary build released today.

The new feature is still in a very early stage and is currently meant for developers. It may take some time before it becomes part of an Android Beta version and later a full stable release. However, the development work has already started, which confirms both companies are moving toward smoother device switching.
Apple is also planning to add the same feature in a future iOS 26 update. The goal is to allow more data types than before to be moved between Android and iOS. This means users may be able to transfer more files and phone data without much trouble when switching platforms.
In the past, moving from iOS to Android required the Android Switch app, while switching from Android to iOS used the Move to iOS app. The new system will make transfers built into both operating systems, which should improve speed and ease of use for users.
Although there is no exact launch date yet, both companies appear focused on making switching between ecosystems less complicated.
