Selama ini, kita semua masih bingung mengenai kinerja banyak netbook dan notebook ultraportable CULV yang menggunakan prosesor berdaya rendah. Meskipun tidak terlalu akurat, saya berpendapat bahwa sub-skor Windows Experience Index dari CPU memberikan perspektif yang baik mengenai kemampuan prosesor tersebut.

Pertama, mari kita lihat jajaran CPU yang saat ini digunakan pada netbook dan ultraportable di pasar. Kita memiliki empat (4) dari AMD dan sepuluh (10) dari Intel.

Sama halnya, TDP (thermal design power) dengan jelas membedakan antara CPU yang ditujukan untuk netbook dan yang untuk CULV. Selain itu, nilai TDP juga memberikan gambaran mengenai efisiensi konsumsi daya masing-masing CPU, yang pada gilirannya memengaruhi berapa lama baterai standar dapat bertahan pada perangkat tersebut.

Kombinasi lama 945GSE/ICH7M memiliki peringkat TDP 9.3W dan jika ditambahkan 2,5 watt dari CPU Atom, Anda mendapatkan total 11,8 watt. Bandingkan hal itu dengan pengaturan baru yang memiliki total 7 watt (5,5 watt untuk CPU dan 1,5 watt untuk chipset), maka Anda akan mengalami penurunan konsumsi daya sebesar 41%.

Catatan: Sebagian besar data WEI pada grafik diambil secara pribadi oleh saya dari berbagai netbook dan ultraportable yang telah saya coba selama beberapa bulan terakhir. Saya kemudian membandingkan hasil saya dengan hasil lain yang dipublikasikan secara online. Dari semua itu, satu-satunya perbedaan signifikan adalah pada WEI Intel Core 2 Duo Su7300 1.3GHz. Uji coba saya menghasilkan sub-skor 3.9, sementara yang lain mencatat 4.0 dan 4.1, sehingga saya menyesuaikan angka pada grafik menjadi 4.0 (karena SU4100 memiliki spesifikasi yang hampir sama).

I find the post very useful more so that I intend to buy a new laptop as replacement for my Satellite M100 with Intel Core Duo. Though I still find my unit to be workable but I’ll acquire the unit based on the study results mentioned herein.

i am a proud and very happy owner of MSI 210 with the AMD x2 l335 – mine has nine cells to resolve concerns on battery life. i’d be running multiple apps – still wont notice any lags even when though computer uptime is almost equivalent to 7 days. battery pack elevates my laptop and helps on ventilation. battery pack protudes when placed in sleeve. Not complaiming though since mine had 320 gb hard drive, 2 GB RAM, and bought for 21.5k :-)

I just bought an Asus UL80 with SU7300 processor(Price @ 41K) with 64bit windows 7 home basic OS. Performance is excellent so far… except that I cant find a windows 7 upgrade to home premium in order for me to install a photoshop cs3.

Had an AMD notebook once. I could have fried an egg on the processor metal cover. Thats “power” I felt right on my lap. Never again for me.
