Listen to article

Massive 8,000mAh batteries are reportedly in the works to power the next OPPO and OnePlus flagships, a new leak claims.

Courtesy of tipster Digital Chat Station, Omega Lab (in Chinese)—the R&D arm of OPPO and OnePlus—have tested an 8000mAh battery with 15% silicon content.

That concentration is significantly higher than that of recent OnePlus smartphones with 6% silicon content. This also means that such device(s) tested sports silicon-carbon batteries.

As mentioned in our explainer video about silicon-carbon batteries, these types of batteries can contain more energy density than the standard lithium-ion batteries in a given space.

Additionally, the tipster also mentioned that such batteries could support 80W of charging.

For reference, current flagship phones from the two companies, the OnePlus 13 and OPPO Find X8 Pro are equipped with 6000mAh and 5910mAh battery cells, respectively.
