Apple introduces MacBook Air with new M5 Chip

Apple has introduced a new MacBook Air powered by the M5 chip, bringing faster performance, improved AI capabilities, and larger starting storage to the company’s thin and lightweight laptop. The new MacBook Air is available in 13-inch and 15-inch models and comes in Sky Blue, Midnight, Starlight, and Silver.

The laptop is built for everyday users such as students, professionals, and creators who need a portable device for work, school, and creative tasks. Apple said the new M5 chip includes a 10-core CPU and up to a 10-core GPU, which helps speed up tasks like photo editing, video processing, and multitasking. The chip also includes a Neural Accelerator in each GPU core, allowing the laptop to run AI tasks directly on the device.

Apple said the MacBook Air with M5 can deliver up to four times faster AI performance compared to the previous M4 model, and up to 9.5 times faster than the MacBook Air with the M1 chip. The device also comes with 512GB of starting storage, which is double the base storage of the previous generation. Users can configure the laptop with up to 4TB of storage.

The new MacBook Air includes Apple’s N1 wireless chip, which supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 for faster and more reliable wireless connections.

Other features include a Liquid Retina display, a 12MP Center Stage camera, a three-microphone array, and a speaker system with Spatial Audio. The laptop also offers up to 18 hours of battery life and two Thunderbolt 4 ports, allowing users to connect accessories and up to two external displays.

The new MacBook Air runs macOS Tahoe, which includes Apple Intelligence features designed to help with productivity, automation, and communication.

Price and Availability

Customers will soon be able to order the new 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air with M5 through Apple’s online store and Apple Authorized Resellers.
