Samsung has officially started testing One UI 8, which will be based on Android 16—even though One UI 7 (Android 15) hasn’t rolled out yet. The irony? One UI 7 is only set to launch next month, but Samsung is already moving forward with its next major update.

One UI 8 Development Kicks Off Earlier Than Expected
The first One UI 8 firmware build was spotted today on Samsung’s servers for the Galaxy S25 series, suggesting that development has started two months ahead of schedule compared to previous One UI updates.
This is a promising sign, especially since Google is expected to release Android 16 in June 2025. If Samsung keeps up this pace, One UI 8 could arrive before the end of the year—though there’s no official timeline yet.
While Samsung has been one of the fastest Android OEMs when it comes to updates, major One UI releases still take time.
One UI 7 has been in testing for months, and yet users are still waiting for it to roll out.
With One UI 8 already in internal testing, there’s hope that Samsung could shorten the waiting period this time.
But will it actually happen? That remains to be seen.
What do you think—will Samsung roll out One UI 8 faster, or are we in for another long wait? Share your thoughts in the comments!
