Ookla: PLDT is fastest broadband in 16 out of 17 PH regions

PLDT was recorded as the fastest in 16 out of 17 regions in the Philippines in terms of average fixed download and upload speeds, according to Ookla Speedtest Intelligence data as of Q1 2021.

According to the latest quarter of Ookla analysis, PLDT leads in average download speed results in Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Central Luzon, Central Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Western Visayas, Davao Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Ilocos Region, Soccsksargen, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Caraga, MIMAROPA, and Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

This is based on the analysis by Ookla of Speedtest Intelligence data average download speeds for top providers in specified regions for Q1 2021. However, PLDT didn’t disclose the internet speeds in the regions mentioned.

“PLDT has been aggressively expanding our fiber network footprint nationwide, which has been key to the massive and consistent improvement of our internet speeds,” says Butch G. Jimenez, Senior Vice President and Head of PLDT Home Business.

    PLDT is the fastest, but only by what amount? 1kbps? 2kbps? It doesn’t matter that they are the fastest if their average internet speed is one of the slowest in Asia.

    This is a joke. A tool that’s only designed to make it look like you have the fastest connection available and doesn’t reflect real-world use. Despite getting more than 100Mbps speed on tests, only select sites like FB or Netflix work well.
