Members of Congress are looking into creating or amending existing laws to impose higher penalties to erring Internet Service Providers and telcos if they don’t provide the mandatory quality of service standards.
House Deputy Minority Leader and LPG-MA Rep. Arnel Ty stated that they are looking to impose fines of up to Php50 million if ISPs fail to provide the minimum expected service.
Currently, the NTC regulates telcos and ISP but the outdated law only mandates for Php200 per day if an ISP is found on-compliant.
Back in Pairl, Senator Bam Aquino initiated a Senate Inquiry of the slow state of internet in the Philippines. Last May, the hearing started off with different heads of government departments and telcos were summoned to shed light to the situation (see video here).

Yung Globe DSL Plan 999 dati 3MBPS. Ngayon, 1MBPS na lang. Obviously for marketing purposes para kunin yung PLAN 1299 3BPS o 5 MBPS for 1599. Hindi kaya itong 1MBPS nila eh may data capping pa?
Mabagal na, may limit pa. Sana yung data capping na eh dapat mabilis ang internet na katulad sa ibang bansa.
Wala na talaga pag-asa Pilipinas sa mga ganitong usapan. Dinadaya talaga mga consumer.
