Google to have Gemini built-in for Chrome browser

In a recent blog post, Google announced that they’ll be having Gemini built-in to the Chrome browser. This should make for smarter browsing, as the platform will now be able to use your open tabs for context.

With Gemini in Chrome, users can ask questions about articles, generate quick summaries, and get information from YouTube videos. It also integrates with Google services such as Docs and Calendar.

Chrome’s address bar, or omnibox, is also getting an AI Mode. This allows users to type complex queries and receive follow-up suggestions based on the webpage being viewed.

For instance, when shopping online, Chrome can suggest checking product warranties. Google is adding new AI-powered safety tools as well.

Chrome can now block scams, autofill login credentials securely, and alert users to weak passwords. Google reported that Android users are already seeing fewer spam notifications, with around 3 billion blocked per day.

The feature is currently rolling out to Mac and Windows users in the US with support in English for now. Meanwhile, availability for Android and iOS will follow.

A wider rollout of Gemini in Chrome is expected soon with additional support for other devices and languages.
