Listen to article

The Nintendo Switch 2 will support backwards compatibility. This was confirmed via the company’s official account as an announcement on X.

On top of this, Furukawa also shared that Nintendo Switch Online will also be available for the next Switch iteration. This means that current Switch players will be able to use their games on the Nintendo Switch 2.

However, Nintendo didn’t reveal much else about the feature and how it should work on the next device. While we expect to learn more within the coming months, the company has yet to unveil further details.

It was previously revealed that the console was set to be announced within the fiscal year. The current timeline looks like we should get a clearer picture by March 2025.
