I’ve tried all versions of MS Office and I can say that the apps comprising the 2010 version loads up faster than the 2007 and 2003 versions.

I really like the way Office 2010 lets the GPU take some of the load to make it faster.

Probably not technically the grey market, Office 2010 has been available to OEMs and on Technet for months already (I have technet, don’t want to install it, open office is better but did install outlook). So maybe its OEM selling against license.

@ rygel & yuga : i don’t think it is a gray market, some distributors already pre-sell those products(home & student / home & business). but right now, nagkaubusan na. i think the next shipment will be on the second week of june–earliest)

@rygel – gray market

@cris – people will just pirate any way it’s priced. Or use the free alternatives.

@tjmanotoc – yup, FPP has 3 licenses per box.

TJman is right… I saw the student version of office10 at a store in sm north cyberzone for P4500 with 3 licenses…. what gets me is that I saw the product during the first week of June… and now I find out that office 2010 has just been released this June 15th. So what was that product I saw earlier?

@IC DeaDPiPo, well said! Getting MS office off of P2P networks is not going to fix the problem. Instead supporting and using open source alternatives like open office is the way to go. And really, why aren’t you using open office?

There is almost nothing, in a home environment, that office can do that open office can’t. There are quite a few things that Open Office can do that MS Office can’t.

The only excuse for using MS Office products is if you have to use it for work (sharepoint, etc) or if you are a heavy exchange and mobile user who needs Outlook. However, you an get Outlook by itself, you don’t need to download/buy Office to get outlook. There are also tons of ways to get Outlook for free with a valid license.

Not really a neccessity as majority of the task can be done by OpenOffice.Org suite and other 3rd party software. Heck even my last projects, presentations, and thesis were done using oOo and even avoided the file format headache by exporting them to PDF for printing aside from bringing a portable copy of OpenOffice.

Pricing is just ridiculous… P26k for the professional version!

That’s why “pirated” copies prosper. I could get a grab of these by using p2p means, all 100% working and receiving updates too.

Microsoft sells overpriced products because they know people will still buy. Besides, one of the reason why they won’t drop the price is that they also need the income from Office sales as their mobile market share is declining due to android, IMO.

Yes… finally but it’s too expensive even just the home and student alone… hopefully manufacturer will bundle the Standard edition… I’m using the beta/trial and performance wise.. this is the best Office suite that they released.

Its already available sa PC Options. Just inquired with them 2 days ago. Yun nga lang, Home and Student edition palang.

I’m curious about Office 2010 Starter. I’m beta testing it right now, and it seems for basic tasks, ok naman sya. How bout you guys, did you tried it?

Price is too much! I’ll still go with OpenOffice.org, almost the same functionalities with MS Office and best of all it’s free!

Pards, from what I recall MS Office Home & Student is good for 3 PCs? So that P4,500 can be broken down to P1,500 per user
