A closer look at the OPPO F5 6GB

?OPPO has just launched the third variant of its newest series of selfie smartphones, and it’s aptly called the F5 6GB with, well, 6GB of RAM in tow.

We have seen no cosmetic changes on the device’s design except for one thing: color. The 6GB variant of the OPPO F5 possesses a polycarbonate back with a luxurious red color finish to make it look metallic, and two thin lines colored in a silver hue are situated at the top and bottom areas.

The same chrome accent also runs on all sides of the device to identify the break between the red back and the black front. It is also worth noting that the F5 6GB is only available in this color, whereas the F5 is offered in black and gold color variants.

The only difference, hardware-wise, is the upgraded RAM and internal storage (now 64GB) while keeping most of the specifications the same. Here are the benchmark scores of the device, compared side by side with the original variant:

Performance is the same based on the scores but heavy multitaskers will enjoy the extra RAM.

With the F3 getting a deep price cut this past week, the F5 6GB replaces it in the
Php21,990 offering and will be available by December 9, which is Php6,000 more than the original F5 which is priced at Php15,990.

Which would you choose — the OPPO F5 with good hardware for its price, or the more powerful OPPO F5 6GB with a higher price tag to boot? Let us know in the comments section which one you prefer.

6k for 2 extra gigs of ram and double the storage? at least the F3 and f3 plus have different processors…

I had been waiting for this phone (6 GB), and expecting a price of 19,990 or so. But the announced pricing seems too much given modest improvement in specs. Now, I am having second thoughts about buying this device. The Huawei Nova 2i seems much more enticing, 2GB less ram but all other areas seem equal, for 7k less.

They should just ditch the Bluetooth Speaker “freebie” that was really factored in the pricing.

I’ve been wary of free items, actually hindi talaga sya free, binayaran mo na din sya. Same with buy 1 take 1. Maganda lang kc pakinggan/tignan pag may FREE or BUY ONE TAKE ONE. Advertising graduate ako pinagaralan namin yan lol.

Additional 6k for a bumped up memory is, I think, too much to ask. Whatever the freebies, it does not justify the additional 6k.
