As the saying “New Year, New Life” goes, we welcome 2019 with open arms for the tech industry. However, let’s first take a look back at the best smartphones that officially became available in 2018. Check it out!

Author’s Note: The smartphones listed are those announced in 2018 and are officially available in the Philippines. Highlighted are the best devices from each brand but we’re also including their alternatives.

ASUS ZenFone 5Z

The ASUS ZenFone 5Z is the company’s latest flagship smartphone for 2018 under the ZenFone lineup. It features a Snapdragon 845 chipset, 6GB RAM, and 128GB storage. For the price of PHP 29,995, you’ll already have a good quality flagship smartphone that won’t break the bank.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 3

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is one of the flagship smartphones that is very much worth the price. For PHP 29,990 you’ll already get a Snapdragon 845 chipset, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage along with features such as a full magnetic slider, Xiao AI voice assistant, Qi Wireless Charging, and many more.

If the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3’s camera positioning is not your design type, then you can go for the Xiaomi Mi 8 which is priced at PHP 25,990 for the 6GB + 64GB variant and PHP 27,990 for the 6GB + 128GB variant. The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2s, on the other hand, is the predecessor of the Mi Mix 3 which was launched the same year with a price of PHP 27,990.

Huawei Nova 3

The Huawei Nova 3 shocked a lot of people including us with its affordable price for a Kirin 970 chipset-powered device. For PHP 25,990 you already have a 6GB RAM, 128GB storage, 16MP + 24MP dual rear cameras, 24MP + 2MP dual front cameras, and 3,750mAh battery.

VIVO X21

The VIVO X21 is the first smartphone introduced in the country to have the in-display fingerprint scanning technology. It comes with a Snapdragon 660 chipset, 6GB RAM, 64GB/128GB storage, 12MP + 5MP dual rear cameras, and 12MP front camera. It is priced at PHP 24,999.

Honor 10

The Honor brand is actually of those companies which redefine the price tag standards of smartphones. The Honor 10 is a testament to that since it has a Kirin 970, 4GB RAM, 128GB storage, and SuperCharge technology for only PHP 20,990.

Pocophone F1 Armoured Edition

Just when Honor showed up, the Pocophone brand surfaced and brought out the Pocophone F1. The Armored Edition features a Wear-resistant Kevlar Aramid fiber material, Snapdragon 845 chipset, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage, and 4,000mAh battery for only PHP 22,990.

LG G7 Thinq

The G7 Thinq is one of the best LG has for 2018 and proved to be a multimedia powerhouse with its 6.1-inch QHD+ display, dual-rear cameras, and Boombox speaker. It was originally priced at PHP 42,990 but we spotted stores selling it recently for just PHP 29,990.
