The Honor 9X has launched in China, and it sports the new Kirin 810 chipset. In this episode of specs comparison, we’ll put it side-by-side the VIVO Y17 to know which one is better in key smartphone aspects. Which one would you prefer? Let’s start!

Starting with the display, the Honor 9X has a larger screen size with a higher resolution as compared to the VIVO Y17. This means that people will have a better and more enjoyable viewing experience if they go with the former. Do note that the former comes with an all-screen display, which means that there are no notches and that is why it takes the cake in this aspect.
If we look at the performance, the AnTuTu score of the Huawei Nova 3i ‘s Kirin 710 (138,548) is significantly higher than the VIVO Y17’s Helio P35 (87,776). Given that the Kirin 810 chipset is the successor of the Kirin 710, we can safely say that the Honor 9X will also have a higher score than VIVO’s contender.
Do note that there is also a 6GB RAM model of the Honor 9X which is better for multi-tasking than the VIVO Y17’s 4GB of RAM.
Powering the camera department of the Honor 9X is a dual rear camera setup with a 48MP sensor. This is higher than the VIVO Y17’s 13MP shooter; however, it doesn’t automatically mean that the former wins in the camera battle. We’ll know the real score once we get our hands on both devices.
Feature-wise, the Honor 9X comes with NFC, USB Type-C, faster Wi-Fi speed, and GPU Turbo 3.0, which enhances gaming performance better. The VIVO Y17 has a dedicated micro SD card slot. Overall, this means that the former wins in this aspect.
In terms of battery performance, the VIVO Y17 carries a 5,000mAh battery which is larger than the 4,000mAh of the Honor 9X. Additionally, the former comes with fast-charging technology, which is excellent for people who often use their smartphones. The former also takes the cake in terms of battery life, given that it has a smaller display with a lower screen resolution.
