HTC Touch HD 2 First Impression

Listen to article

During the Windows 7 Enterprise Launch earlier this week, I was able to take a sneak peek at the upcoming HTC HD 2 and though I was not allowed to take pictures or video, they allowed me to play around with it for a while.

This phone combines sexy and elegance with a large 4.3 inch capacitive screen {see full specs here}. This is the largest screen I’ve ever seen in a mobile phone — larger than the first Touch HD and even the iPod Touch.

Despite that, HTC was still able to keep it slim at 11mm (as slim as the Nokia E71). It’s got some pretty kick-ass graphics as well.

While it is running Windows Mobile 6.5, it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD2850 1.0 GHz processor so everything is smooth and fast. The HTC Sense UI is also a beauty and runs on top of WinMo 6.5 so you don’t actually see any semblance of the OS in the interface. The Touch HD2 is also Windows Mobile 7 compatible so when that OS comes out, you can have it readily upgraded.

Reps from HTC Philippines tell me the Touch HD2 will be out in the public by December or early January next year with an estimated retail price of around Php49,000.

@Yka: If you’re still interested in HTC HD2, I can facilitate order from the US for you. The last unit we sold was priced at 24,000. It was a high quality refurbished unit from the US. Unlocked and was ready to use in the PI. Just today, my supplier confirmed that he got a new unit of HTC HD2 running Froyo 2.2.

Visit my Facebook page: Geeklab..or send me an email: yendefelipe(at)gmail.com for more details. Thanks

Sure I want the weather on the home srceen with information updates, sure I would like contacts visable at any given time, I desire a educate app, a flight app, a street congestion standing app and yes I need a telephone in order to reply to my each and every command and no longer grasp/freeze or shutdown like my provide Nokia E72 or my earlier Blackberry Bold.

Microsoft isn’t any stranger to having companions galore in the telephone enterprise, but its lineup of manufacturers for the upcoming, surprisingly promising Windows Cellphone 7 launch is not any less impressive. After plenty of rumoring, Microsoft has confirmed that Dell and HTC will be making Home windows Telephone 7 telephones, in addition to ASUS, LG, and Samsung who had already been confirmed. All of these firms ought to have their stamp on hardware by the end of the year, with the launch of the OS still vaguely slated for the “holidays” We now have little doubt that each one 5 manufacturers can construct some compelling, horny hardware, but we’re notably enthused to see Dell actually getting into the sport after the impressive Streak and that drool worthy leak a short while back. read more at http://www.wp7forum.com fans group.

Hi, Microsoft has made it perfectly clear the HTC HD2 will not be upgraded to Windows Phone 7. HTC will do it with the leaked HTC HD3 Windows Mobile 7 phone instead. The HD2 is a perfectly awesome phone but by the end of this year and with the advent of the release of the new windows phone 7 phones from different manufacturers including Dell and HTC, there’s a legitimate change that the HD2 will be outdated. Not because of the hardware. I mean it’s a very very cool package both internally and externally. The mere fact that its running Windows Mobile 6.5 will be enough reason for enthusiast to step back from buying this phone and wait for the HD3 instead…if they are planning on going the wp7 route. Otherwise, Android has become a worthy competitor in the smartphone market and not to mention the upcoming iPhone update that is due this coming June or July.

This HD 2 is way beyond Iphone and blackberry…I will get this if they will load it with Android with SENSE UI. SNAPDRAGON chipset in this model is still not optimized – it can even support 12 MP camera and a HD resolution of 720P for video playback.

It’s a price of a decent laptop.

Not a good price especially parating na ang BlackBerry Bold 2. I’m sure in terms of practicality, a buyer would choose an iPhone or a BlackBerry + a decent netbook over this one.

They have priced this lower than the Touch HD? Geez. I should have waited for this. I just wish they would allow swapping… I would definitely trade in my Touch HD for the HD2.

From previous pages, you overshot your price estimate by Php1k. Haha! Sure, not for the average user. Too steep. Sort of afraid though that my dau will wish for this on Christmas ==XD.

Cheers!
