Listen to article

It is said that the flagship Samsung Galaxy S23 which will most likely be released next year January will be powered only by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset (SM8550) versus the setup of the S22 which has 70% from Qualcomm and 30% Exynos.

Based on the industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Qualcomm will most likely be the only processor supplier for the incoming Samsung Galaxy S23. Based on the present setup of Galaxy S22, 70% of the shipment is made from Qualcomm while the rest of the 30% is from Samsung’s own Exynos, which is mostly distributed in Europe.

The S23 is said to likely not adopt the Exynos 2300 made from Samsung 4nm because it can’t go head to head with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset (SM8550). Because the SM8550 is also optimized based on the TSMC’s design rule, it’ll have a better computer and power efficiency versus the SM8450/SM8475.

It is also said by Ming-Chi Kuo that the SM8550 will have more market share in the high-end Android market next year because, despite the recession, it hasn’t affected the high-end market that much. This is said to surely give benefit Qualcomm and TSMC.

What we know so far

So far, because the Galaxy S23 is still around 6 months away, many iterations can still happen. As of now, there are rumors of a 200MP main sensor which could possibly set this as the first Samsung smartphone to reach that level, and the selfie shooter is reported to be having a big upgrade as well like it is said to be no embedded in the display.

Another thing is the expected improved performance and a possible improvement in its battery life.

Stay tuned for more updates regarding the Samsung Galaxy S23.
