iOS 4.3 out for the iPhone 4, iPad, iPod Touch

Listen to article

The much-awaited update to iOS4 is now available, ahead of the expected March 11 release date, with the promised “personal hotspot” feature making your iPhone 4 a mobile WiFi router (like the Huawei E5).

Total download file is 669.8MB so it will take some time if you don’t have a good connection.

This update contains new features and improvements, including the following:

iOS 4.3 Software Update

Personal Hotspot
Share iPhone 4 cellular data connection with up to 5 devices (combination of up to 3 Wi-Fi, 3 Bluetooth, and 1 USB)

iTunes Home Sharing

Play music, movies and TV shows from a shared iTunes library on a Mac or PC (requires iTunes 10.2)

New AirPlay features

Play videos from the Photos app including the Camera Roll album, iTunes previews, enabled third-party apps and websites on Apple TV

Play slideshows from Photos on Apple TV using transitions available on Apple TV

Faster Safari performance with Apple Nitro JavaScript engine

HD video out using the Apple Digital AV Adapter
View 720p HD videos from Videos app, iPod app, Photos, YouTube, Safari, Keynote, and enabled third-party apps on an HDMI display

Ping features
Push notifications for comments and follow requests
Post and Like songs directly from the Now Playing screen
Parental controls

New Settings
Messages setting for number of times to repeat an alert
iPad side switch setting to lock screen rotation or mute audio notifications and sound effects
Single tap conference call dialing with a pause to send a passcode
Bug fixes

*Requires iPhone 4 with tethering data plan
**Requires Apple TV (2nd generation) running software version 4.2 or later
***iPhone 4, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation)

Hi there! Would like to know if this personal hotspot is faster than a globe superstick? Taken to account that iPhone4 has signal issues which may affect the data transfers…

Did anybody experience losing contacts, apps or messages after upgrading to the OS 4.3? I have been reading Apple forums and it seems some people did. I don’t have backups whatsoever, any tips before I upgrade? TIA

no you cant coz u need the usb dongle to connect to your laptop and it doesnt provide wifi connectivity. Kung ipod touch lang ang gadget mo then i suggest u buy huawie wifi router. meron yan sa Globe(check mo site nila)they call it Mifi merong and superstick at meron din review ng huawie E5 here in Yugatech. search mo na lang.

I can’t update my iPad1 from 4.2.1 to 4.3, error 14 was the problem and I’m stuck in recovery mode. Somebody has the same issue? Any recommended solution?

Just finished downloading and updating my iPhone 4. Was disappointed not to explore the much awaited personal hotspot though. Downloaded thru apple and been using Globe issued iPhone. Am i doing something wrong or its deactivated for Globe? Or i just cant find it and busy on exploring these new features??? Please help.

Make sure you have 3G on with the correct APN.

LI
lippo_80 · 15 years ago

Hi Arnold,

Thanks for the swift reply. I enabled 3G and cellular data. Didnt changed the APN. its still internet.globe.com.ph

Hope you could shed some more light on this.

If you are on a postpaid plan, you should be alright with ‘internet.globe.com.ph’. If you’re prepaid, just change it to ‘http.globe.com.ph’.

Got the solution. All you have to do is Reset your Network Settings! Enjoy everyone!!!

hey i tried browsing your blog on my iPhone , but the experience is not optimized for mobile devices, why don’t you use MobStac, which gives a brilliant experience and is free, you can check it out at http://www.mobstac.com/b

I’m also on unlimited surfing…I don’t think it will incur additional cost.

I don’t think the Personal Hotspot feature is activated in Globe-distributed units. I just updated mine and I can’t seem to find it.
