List of Sony Xperia phones to get Android 4.3

With Android 4.3 Jellybean already on a rollout for Nexus devices, Sony took the chance to confirm its list of Xperia smartphones that will get the latest Android OS.

Android 4.3 Jellybean will be available for the following Xperia devices:

* Xperia Z
* Xperia ZL
* Xperia ZR
* Xperia Z Ultra
* Xperia Tablet Z
* Xperia SP

Date of arrival of the update is yet to be announced.

Sony also announced that the Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet Z will start receiving Android 4.2 from early August. The company is also looking at uplifting some of their other devices running 4.1 direct to 4.3.

While Sony isn’t well known for providing timely OS updates, they’ve stated that they are well aware of the process and are “constantly improving” the way they do things.

If you’re curious about the process behind the Android 4.3 upgrade you can check out Sony’s article here.

  1. Xperia Z user on Official 4.2.2 here. Can’t wait for 4.3. Good thing Sony is catching up on software updataes! :)

  2. The only interesting bit here is that the Xperia SP gets the 4.3 update, and it’s a midrange smartphone.

    (Shameless but relevant plug: Kimstore sells it for 14.4k — Sony’s official price is 19,990.)

    All the other Sony phones and tablets that will get 4.3 are over 20k to 30k.

    • That’s because of the warranty. Service warranty versus service and parts warranty of Sony Mobile PH.

  3. Sorry to say this but can’t really trust Sony when it comes into Android Updates. My worst experience is when Sony promised that Sony Xperia U will get Jelly Bean but after a few months waiting they said it was cancelled due to the “Xperia U’s lack of ROM”. If those guys at xda-developers can do it, why Sony can’t do it?

    Most of the devs at Sony are just lazy or worse, they don’t give a shit about non-flagship phones. Guess I’ll just buy a Nexus phone and stop trusting those manufacturers from their promises.

    • mine’s still on ics, sony don’t want to upgrade the older xperias so people will buy the latest models. keep it up, sony. there are tutorials on xda but i’m afraid i’ll mess up and void my warranty
