MediaTek has unveiled a new budget gaming 4G chipset, the MediaTek Helio G200. Although, just like what happened to the Helio G100 13, the new chip is yet another minor update with a few notable gains.

For starters, its CPU and GPU configuration and camera capabilities remains pretty much the same as its predecessor.

The Helio G200, which is built of 6-nm process, features an octa-core setup, still with two Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.2GHz and six Cortex-A55 efficiency cores running at 2.0GHz.

The GPU is still a Mali-G57, but MediaTek claims it runs slightly faster at 1.1GHz. Storage and memory support also stay the same, with LPDDR4X RAM (up to 4266Mbps) and UFS 2.2 storage.

Performance-wise, MediaTek highlights that the G200 offers some notable improvements over the G100. In ANTUTU benchmarks, it shows a 35% boost in performance, while Geekbench results show 40% better single-core and 20% better multi-core performance.

The GPU is claimed to be 75% faster, and there’s also a 30% increase in power efficiency during gaming.

Camera and display specs are largely the same as well, with the G200 supporting up to 200MP sensors. One new feature is the addition of 12-bit DCG (dual conversion gain) for higher-quality HDR video.

It also supports Full HD+ displays at 120Hz, with dynamic refresh rate for better power efficiency.

For connectivity, the G200 includes a Cat-13 4G LTE modem, and dual 4G VoLTE support. It also introduces a new 4G DC SAR for improved performance in low-signal areas, particularly for social and messaging apps.
