Meizu Pro 7 Hands-On, First Impressions

Recently, Meizu launched its latest flagship smartphones that feature the talked-about secondary screen, the Fenêtre display, dubbed the and its bigger twin, the Pro 7 Plus here in the country. But let’s talk about the former first.

Right off the bat, the Meizu Pro 7 feels good and premium on the hands. It comes with a little heft to it since it is has been created with an all-metal body design. However, its front panel isn’t anything new we’ve seen in most smartphones released these days.

It sports a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels which equates to 423ppi. Color reproduction looks good and vibrant. Up top, you’d spot its 16MP f/2.0 front camera and down below is the Home button, which also acts as the fingerprint scanner and the Back button.

On its upper left side sits the hybrid SIM card tray while on the right are the power/lock button as well as the volume rocker.

The bottom part houses the speaker grille, the 3.5mm headset jack, the main microphone, and the USB Type-C port.

Flip on its back and you will see its 2-inch AMOLED secondary display called the Fenêtre display, which translates ‘Windows’ in English, as well as its 12MP f/2.0 Sony IMX386 dual rear camera with dual-LED flash. You’d also see the Meizu logo rotated vertically on the corner right of the phone. Fiddling with the Fenêtre display has been a pretty fun and unique experience. It is used to show notifications, weather, time, and more. It also functions as a music player.

What’s also cool about this feature is that it allows you to take a selfie using the rear cam. Here are just some sample shots from the rear cam.

Powering the Meizu Pro 7 is a MediaTek MT6757T Helio P25 octa-core processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, Android 7.0 Nougat, and 3000mAh battery.
