Modu Phone Review

You don’t need to spend a lot of time with the Modu phone to realize if it’s for you or not. I guess it all boils down to how it fits with your lifestyle.

The first time I saw the Modu, I was a bit confused how one could comfortably use this phone with that very sparse physical keys.

Turns out the phone gives you a virtual alphanumeric keypad for typing a message (reminds me of the virtual keyboard of PSP, only the Modu has alphanumeric).

While most phones in the market  battle it out to be your primary mobile handset, the Modu phone is alone for the #2 spot. In the Philippines, a significant chunk of mobile users have a second phone which they use for simple but specific purpose — second phone could be the office phone for business and client contacts; or is reserved for a specific person or a small personal group of contacts.

The Modu is perfect for that — making calls and sending SMS. Instead of getting a bigger, heavier or more expensive secondary phone, the Modu gets it done and doesn’t add much weight on your pocket.

Of course, if you want to add some variety, they also come with numerous add-on cases or jackets. Just slip it in a jacket and the phone is completely transformed into a new one. Check out some of these colorful jackets for the Modu.

It’s like the Nokia 1100, only way more fashion-friendly. And did I mention it’s the world’s lightest mobile phone? It’s also the slimmest at just 7.8mm thin. At the very least, it’s a conversation piece.

The Modu phone is by no means not your regular feature phone but rather a fashion phone. So it’s either you like it or you don’t. I just happen to like it.

    This it too much for a secondary phone when you can get the smaller Nokia phones for 1k-2k

    @Mia – not sure but I think they’ll give you a certain Immortal Textload for a year.

    @John Ray Cabrera – so what’s you secondary phone? ;)

    they’re either akin to remote controls or to a media player. the deisgn factor is a novelty but i can’t trade it off to a much needed functionality and comfort.

    Given the size comparison with the E71, even at 6K that’s not a bad deal.

    For me, the most important feature of a second phone is size.

    @Marvin

    baka mp4 player or PMP. ang mp4, fyi, ay isang uri ng file format.

    Not for me. I would rather buy a dual sim as my extra phone. OR if budget allows a Nokia E52 or E72.

    Got the my/phone Q21 instead at Php4,750. It’s a qwerty that looks like the blackberry Bold 9000. 6k is steep plus it’s Globe locked so no thanks as Globe is my primary number and this is just too basic.

    waw, buti naman may review na nito dito, tagal na nito eh.. :) Sir Yuga, ask ko lang, kasi gusto ko talagang bumili nito kaya lang nag-aalangan ako kasi wala akong makita sa site ng Globe kung magkano nila pinagbebenta yung mga jackets ng phone. Naitanong nyu po ba sa kanila?? At tsaka gaano kadami yung choices na pagpipilian?
