The spec rundown may be a lot to take in all at once so let’s take a look at the Redmi Note 12 devices and compare them spec by spec.
For the display, all four Redmi Note 12 phones will feature the same screen size and resolution: FHD+ 6.67-inch AMOLED panels with all four having 120 Hz refresh rates. However, there are two main differences between the regular 12s and the Pro phones.
One is the brightness, as the Note 12 and 12 5G will have 1200 nits of peak brightness; while the 12 Pro 5G and 12 Pro+ 5G will have only 900 nits of peak brightness.
Second is protection against drops as the regular 12 and 12 5G will only have Corning Gorilla Glass 3 while both the 12 Pro 5G and 12 Pro+ 5G will have the stronger Gorilla Glass 5.
For the chipset, the Note 12 will have a Snapdragon 865 processor with the Adreno 610 GPU. Meanwhile, the Note 12 5G will have the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset and the Adreno 619 GPU.
For the Note 12 Pro phones, both will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 and the Mali-G68 GPU.
In terms of storage options, the Note 12 and 12 5G will have the same options of choosing between 4, 6, and 8GB LPDDR4X RAM.
But for internal storage, the standard Note 12 will only have a base of 64GB and 128GB while the Note 12 5G will start at 128GB and have a higher 256GB option. Both phones have expandable storage of up to 1TB via Micro-SD.
Meanwhile, the Note 12 Pro 5G will be offered with either 6 or 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128 or 256GB of internal storage. Lastly, the Note 12 Pro+ 5G will only have one storage variant of 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB internal storage.
The Pro phones won’t have the expandable storage found in the regular 12s.
All four Redmi Note 12 devices have three rear cameras, with the main difference coming from the main sensor in each phone. All four have an 8MP ultra-wide and a 2MP macro shooter. Let’s take a look at the main sensor of each.
For the standard Note 12, we have a 50MP AI wide camera with an f/1.8 aperture. Meanwhile, the Note 12 5G has a 48MP AI main sensor, also with an f/1.8 aperture.
The Note 12 Pro 5G, on the other hand, has a Sony IMX766 50MP wide camera with OIS and an f/1.88 aperture. Lastly, the Note 12 Pro+ 5G has a whopping 200MP wide main sensor with OIS and an f/1,65 aperture.
It seems like the “+” in the 12 Pro+ 5G’s name actually refers to its main sensor’s megapixel count.
There are also key differences in terms of connectivity and features among the Note 12 devices. The standard Note 12 only has Bluetooth 5.0, while the Note 12 5G has Bluetooth 5.1. And as the name suggests, the Note 12 is the only phone here without 5G capability.
Both the Note 12 Pro 5G and Note 12 Pro+ 5G on the other hand have Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6.
While the Note 12 misses out on 5G, it is the only phone which has a microSD card slot that’s expandable up to 1TB.
All four phones carry an IR blaster, a side fingerprint sensor, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and IP53 water and dust resistance.
In terms of battery size, all four phones have 5000 mAh batteries. The difference here lies in charging, with the Note 12 and Note 12 5G only having 33W of fast wired charging and the Note 12 Pro having 67W turbocharging.
Lastly, the Note 12 Pro+ 5G has the fastest charging tech here with support for 120W HyperCharge.
There we have it, a rundown of all of the differences and similarities between Redmi’s four new Note 12 devices. No official Philippine price has been announced so we can only compare specs as of now.
