Samsung announces 2018 Galaxy A8 and A8+

Samsung has just announced two new members of the Galaxy A family, the A8 (2018) and A8+ (2018).

Both phones feature designs that more closely resemble Samsung’s flagship devices, offering large SuperAMOLED Infinity Displays with 18.5:9 aspect ratios. They will have dual front cameras that support Live Focus, Samsung’s portrait mode that allows you to adjust the bokeh effect before or after taking a shot.

They will also be the first non-flagship Samsung phones to support Samsung Pay via MST and NFC, and the first A-series phones to support Samsung Gear VR.

Other important features include IP68 water and dust resistance, digital image stabilization for video, a new hyperlapse video mode, and USB Type-C with support for fast charging.

The Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) and A8+ (2018) come in four colors, including black, orchid grey, gold, and blue. Pricing and regional availability has not been officially announced, but both phones will arrive in their intended markets in early January 2018.
