Samsung, Apple, and Xiaomi are among the top three brands that dominated the smartphone market during Q1 2025.
According to the latest market report from Canalys, Samsung leads with a 20% market share, shipping 60.5 million units. Apple follows closely behind at 19%, with 55 million units shipped.
Chinese tech giant Xiaomi holds third place with 14% market share, shipping 41.8 million units. And vivo and OPPO round out the top five with 22.9 million and 22.7 million units, respectively, each holding 8% market share.
While familiar brands continue to dominate, the overall smartphone market faces ongoing challenges. Shipments for the said quarter saw a modest 0.2% year-over-year increase, totaling 296.9 million units.
Countries like the United States and Mainland China saw notable increases in shipments, but this growth was offset by declines in Europe, the Middle East, and India.
The surge in the U.S. is partly attributed to Apple’s stockpiling of units ahead of new tariffs introduced by President Donald Trump, which raised concerns over price hikes.
Canalys notes that smartphone brands are hopeful for a market rebound in Q2 2025, driven by reducing inventories and new product launches.
