Samsung has finally unveiled its flagship smartphones for 2023, the Galaxy S23 Series consisting of the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra. Like with any new iteration, these devices come with newer features and powerful specs compared to its predecessor. But what about the price? First is the Samsung Galaxy S which launched in the Philippines in June 2010 for PHP 32,995USD 562INR 47,665EUR 536CNY 4,095 (16GB). By today’s standards, it’s an entry-level phone with a 4-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 480 x 800, Corning Gorilla Glass, 1GHz processor, 512MB RAM, up to 16GB storage, 5MP rear camera, 1,500mAh battery, and Android 2.1 Eclair.
Succeeding the Galaxy S is the Galaxy S II which launched in the Philippines in June 2011 for PHP 29,990USD 511INR 43,324EUR 487CNY 3,722. It had a larger 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display but retained the resolution at 480 x 800 with Corning Gorilla Glass. It’s powered by an Exynos 4210 dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, and up to 32GB storage, 8MP rear camera, 1,650mAh battery, and Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread.
The Galaxy S III launched in the Philippines in May 2012 for PHP 32,990USD 562INR 47,657EUR 535CNY 4,094 (16GB). It is a significant improvement over its predecessor in terms of looks as well as specs. It has a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display with HD resolution, Corning Gorilla Glass 2, Exynos 4412 quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, up to 64GB storage, 8MP rear camera, Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich, and 2,100mAh battery.
The Galaxy S4 launched in the Philippines in April 2013 for PHP 30,990USD 528INR 44,768EUR 503CNY 3,846 (16GB, LTE). It has a larger 5.0-inch Super AMOLED display with a Full HD resolution. Samsung used two chipsets for the S4, one with a Snapdragon 600 quad-core, while the other has an Exynos 5410 octa-core chipset. It’s also equipped with 2GB RAM, up to 64GB storage, LTE connectivity, 13MP rear camera, Android 4.2.2 Jellybean, and 2,600mAh battery.
The Samsung Galaxy S series broke the 5-inch barrier with the Galaxy S5. It launched in the Philippines in April 2014 for PHP 34,990USD 596INR 50,547EUR 568CNY 4,342 (16GB), and sports a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED Full HD display, Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, up to 32GB storage, LTE, 16MP rear camera, IP67 water, and dust resistance, Android 4.4.2 KitKat, and 2,800mAh battery.
Following the S5 is the Galaxy S6 which launched in the Philippines in April 2015 for PHP 35,990USD 613INR 51,991EUR 584CNY 4,466 (32GB) and PHP 41,990USD 716INR 60,659EUR 681CNY 5,211 (64GB). It has a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display with Quad HD resolution, and Corning Gorilla Glass 4 front and back. Powered by a Samsung Exynos 7420 octa-core processor, it has 3GB RAM, up to 128GB storage, LTE, 16MP rear camera, Android 5.0.2 Lollipop, 2,550mAh battery with Qi Wireless Charging.
The Galaxy S6 Edge launched in the Philippines together with the S6 for PHP 41,990USD 716INR 60,659EUR 681CNY 5,211 (32GB) and PHP 47,990USD 818INR 69,326EUR 779CNY 5,956 (64GB). It has the same specs and features as the S6 except for the Curved Edge screen and a slightly larger 2,600mAh battery.
The Galaxy S6 Edge+ arrived at a later time and became available for purchase in the Philippines in September 2015 for PHP 39,990USD 681INR 57,770EUR 649CNY 4,963 (32GB) and PHP 44,990USD 767INR 64,993EUR 730CNY 5,583 (64GB). It has a larger 5.7-inch display with Quad HD resolution, Curved Edge screen, 4GB RAM, and 3,000mAh battery. The rest is the same as its S6 siblings.
The Galaxy S7 became available in the Philippines in March 2016 for PHP 34,990USD 596INR 50,547EUR 568CNY 4,342 (32GB). It has a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED Quad HD display, Samsung Exynos 8890 64-bit octa-core processor, 4GB RAM, 12MP Dual Pixel rear camera, IP68 water, and dust resistance, Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and 3,000mAh battery with Fast Wireless Charging.
The Galaxy S7 Edge became available in the Philippines alongside the Galaxy S7 for PHP 39,990USD 681INR 57,770EUR 649CNY 4,963 (32GB). 2017’s flagship is the Galaxy S8 which became available in the Philippines in May 2017 for PHP 39,990USD 681INR 57,770EUR 649CNY 4,963 (64GB). It is equipped with a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED Quad-HD+ Infinity display with 18:9 aspect ratio, Corning Gorilla Glass 5, Samsung Exynos 8895 64-bit 10nm octa-core CPU, 4GB RAM, 12MP Dual Pixel rear camera, IP68 body, heart-rate scanner, iris scanner, Android 7.0 Nougat, and 3,000mAh battery with Fast Wireless Charging.
The Galaxy S8+ also became available in the country in May 2017 for PHP 45,990USD 784INR 66,437EUR 746CNY 5,707 (64GB). It has the same specs as the S8 except for the larger 6.2-inch display, and 3,500mAh battery.
Come 2018, Samsung released the Galaxy S9 series. The base S9 sports a 5.8-inch WQHD+ display, Samsung Exynos 9810 octa-core chipset, a single 12MP rear camera, and a 3,000mAh battery. It was offered in the Philippines with a 4GB + 64GB configuration for PHP 45,990USD 784INR 66,437EUR 746CNY 5,707.
Unveiled alongside the S9 is the Galaxy S9+. It sports a larger 6.2-inch WQHD+ screen, the same Samsung Exynos 9810 octa-core chipset, but with a 12MP dual-rear cameras, and a 3,500mAh battery. Samsung released four Galaxy S10 smartphones for 2019. Three of them arrived in the Philippines, and one of them is the Galaxy S10E which is the most affordable in the new series. It sports a 5.8 (2280 x 1080) Dynamic AMOLED Infinity O display, Samsung Exynos 9820 chipset, 12MP + 16MP dual rear cameras, and a 3,100mAh battery with wireless charging and Wireless PowerShare. The most powerful Galaxy smartphone in the series the Galaxy S10+. It is almost identical to the S10 except for the larger 6.3-inch WQHD+ Dynamic AMOLED Infinity O display and 4,100mAh battery with wireless charging and Wireless PowerShare. Sitting in the middle of the S20 series is the Galaxy S20+. It has a 6.7-inch QHD+Dynamic AMOLED 2.0 120Hz display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 or Samsung Exynos 990 chipsets, up to 12GB of RAM, up to 512GB of storage, quad rear cameras with 8K video recording, 5G connectivity, and 4,500mAh battery. The most powerful in the S20 family. Samsung continues its trend of introducing three Galaxy S flagship models continues in 2021 with the Galaxy S21 Series. Representing Samsung’s most powerful flagship for 2021 is the Galaxy S21 Ultra. This one has a 6.8-inch Edge QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with 120Hz refresh rate, Gorilla Glass Victus, Samsung Exynos 2100, 12GB / 16GB of RAM, 128GB / 256GB / 512GB of storage, 108MP quad-rear cameras, 5G connectivity, OneUI 3.0 based on Android 11, a 5,000mAh battery with 25W fast charging, and for the first time in the S series, S Pen support. This phone is priced at PHP 69,990USD 1,193INR 101,108EUR 1,136CNY 8,686 for the 12GB + 256GB, which is the same as the Galaxy S20 Ultra. However, it is also offering a more expensive 16GB + 512GB model for PHP 79,990USD 1,363INR 115,554EUR 1,298CNY 9,927.
In 2022, Samsung introduced three more flagships and the based model comes in the form of the Galaxy S22. It has a 6.1-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, Gorilla Glass Victus+, 50MP triple-rear cameras, WiFi 6, IP68 rating, and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen1 chipset and 3,700mAh battery.

Samsung’s most powerful smartphone in 2022 is the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The company gave it significant upgrades, including an S-Pen, effectively killing the Galaxy Note lineup. It has a 6.8-inch QHD+ AMOLED display, 120Hz refresh rate, Gorilla Glass Victus+, 108MP quad-rear cameras, WiFi 6e, IP68 rating, and powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen1 chipset and 5,000mAh battery.

Just like in previous years, Samsung continues to release three models for their flagship series. The Galaxy S23+, like the previous ‘+’ models, packs minor upgrades over the S23, such as the larger 6.6-inch screen and 4,700mAh battery. The rest are pretty much the same, like the Gorilla Glass Victus 2, a more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, UFS 4.0 storage, 50MP triple-rear cameras, IP68 rating, WiFi 6e, and Bluetooth 5.3.
