hi guys! already seen this phone and it’s really superb! i have a Globe loyalty reward and they gave me this phone for 29k only and im selling it coz i just got an iphone before they gave me the discount price just last week..so if any of u wants this phone just email me marka****@****.*** thanks guys!
Malabo pa yung availability nito until august 2. advise ko lang sa lahat wait for open line units.. andriod is best when flashed with a non branded firmware and rooted.. globe is using a singtel branded firmware + may sim lock.. kapag naka simlock ka pag flash mo to non branded bricked kana (risk)
where is this available?
@evilalvin
How much po ang kuha nyo? And is it available outside of Globe? Kase i happen to see this lang sa Globe as demo units.
@evilalvin
I recommend you flash it to the Euro firmware instead of using the SingTel/Asia firmware so you dont have to reboot it often and the speed difference is dramatic as the other users have claimed.
Theres an application you can use to purchase apps even if you are on an unsupported country thats why it was never mention on any review.
been using this phone for 2 weeks. i am very pleased. but you need to boot it once in a while. nothing to worry, it is still a computer. what i just don’t like is the android market here in southeast asia. you can’t buy apps online. they never mentioned it in any reviews.
Globe already has demo units ( live ) on display, So i guess its already available from them.
When will samsung I9000 galaxy s be available in the Philippines? I badly need it now!!!!
@Miklos
Carrier free ito sa pinas.
you might wanna consider samsung’s plans to replace google services with yahoo on their android and bada os-powered phones if you plan to purchase one.

I want this phone now :D
Doesn’t matter if it will be Globe or Smart I just want the phone.
ibig sabihin ba nito good thing that hindi pa ako bumili ng X10???
Mr. yuga, sa tinggin mo how much would be the selling price of this phone pag narelease dito sa Pinas? 30k++ kaya ang selling price nito or much lower?
So many mactards. I’d like to kill myself now please.
Someone beat me to it but yeah, I just confirmed that Samsung is using their own stuff and not Qualcomm’s.
Honestly, they don’t really have a reason to use the Snapdragon. They are second only to Intel when it comes to semiconductor market share and has a significantly better solution that Qualcomm. Here’s the exact model they are using – http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/newsView.do?news_id=1043
another iPhone influenced design… even the product shots, its apple-ish! :D
according to some write-ups, this thing has the fastest processor/gpu combo to date:
here’s some excerpts from the articles:
=============================================
…Here is a GPU comparison for some of the leading smartphones:
* Motorola Droid: TI OMAP3430 with PowerVR SGX530 = 7 million(?) triangles/sec
* Nexus One: Qualcomm QSD8×50 with Adreno 200 = 22 million triangles/sec
* iPhone 3G S: 600 MHz Cortex-A8 with PowerVR SGX535 = 28 million triangles/sec
* Samsung Galaxy S: S5PC110 with PowerVR SGX540 = 90 million triangles/sec
And for comparison a few consoles:
* PS3: 250 million triangles/sec
* Xbox 360: 500 million triangles/sec
As you can clearly see, the Samsung Galaxy S comes out on top of the smartphones by a wide margin (but not quite those PS3 graphics in your pocket yet).
So to recap, the Samsung Galaxy S has the best display (Super AMOLED) and fastest processor of any Android smartphone that has been officially announced to launch this year.

ganda pala ng super amoled display!
so when will they introduce a smartphone w/ no OS? these specs are almost equal to the much cheaper netbooks
let the people decide which OS to use. i think that will be a wonderful idea (especially if i can install WinXP on it — the games!)
does this same price with iphone today?
magnificent phone..
now i need to replace my i8910 with this phone…
i just wonder why did samsung leave behind the first hd video recording phone ( i8910 ) and did not have any firmware update here in the philippines.
I am surely trading my phone for this…
It looks great. Hopefully the price won’t burn a hole in my pocket when it’s made officially available locally.
It’s either this one or a BlackBerry Curve for me.
@Lucien – thanks for pointing out the CPU. It’s indeed a Samsung 1GHz CPU and not Qualcomm’s. I think I copied the HTC Evo specs earlier.
This is not Samsung’s first Android 2.1 phone since Samsung Spica (i5700) has an upgrade available, it’s just not yet available locally (the upgrade, that is. The phone is already available).
Question: Where did you find the exact model of the processor used by Samsung? I find it odd that it says Snapdragon when I’m quite sure they will be using the Hummingbird which is Samsung’s own 1 GHz applications processor. Advantages include a dedicated FPU, which I believe the Snapdragon does not have.
Samsung does not have a reason to use the Snapdragon when they are an altogether bigger semi-conductor manufacturer and seller than Qualcomm.
mas maganda sana ito kung DUAL-Sim eh…
Looks a lot like the iPhone including the UI but really impressive based on this video by MobileBurn:

Looks like a worthy replacement for my old iPhone.
They say that this will be cheaper than Xperia X10. But not sure here in Philippines. :D
I think this is the first Android v2.1 phone from Samsung.
