Summary of advantages
LG V20:
- Bigger display
- Additional secondary screen
- More spacious internal storage
- Larger battery
- Higher quality Hi-Fi DAC audio
- Hi-Fi microphone
- Latest Android 7.0 Nougat
LG G5
- More compact
- Modular friends
- Higher pixel count for front camera
Basically, the LG V20 is more of an upgrade from the LG G5 rather than its direct predecessor, the V10. If weren’t for the lack of modularity with the G5’s so-called “friends”, the V20 can beat the G5 in all aspect.
Specs-wise, everything the G5 has is loaded to the V20, plus the features on the V10. You get a secondary display for shortcuts and notifications above the already large 5.7-inch display. The V20 is also powered by the Snapdragon 820 which is a flagship chipset. With an upgraded storage of 64GB, the LG V20 is considerably LG’s new flagship. Top that with the latest Android 7.0 Nougat and we’re already sold.
The LG G5’s only advantage so far is its modular design. You can add a camera module and what not to essentially upgrade it further. Design-wise, the G5 also gets a point but that can subjective.
