Both smartphones have the 2016 display standard which is a 5.5-inch screen size paired with a Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution. One difference, however, is that the M6 Note carries an LTPS LCD display while the Note 4X has an IPS LCD one. Comparing both display types, both have good color accuracy and viewing angles. The LTPS’s advantage is that it can provide higher picture resolution but will degrade faster over time. As for viewing experience, users will have to pick their preference as both are good and pleasant.
This is somewhat self-explanatory as both smartphones have the same Snapdragon 625 CPU and Adreno 506 GPU. Based on the benchmark scores that we had, they are almost on par with each other. The SD 625 is a decent processor for mid-range smartphones as it gives a smooth and fast performance with an optimized battery management for long-lasting battery life. For gaming capabilities, the Adreno 506 can run light to moderate graphics games with ease.
This is where the two smartphones go on a different path. The M6 Note carries a dual camera setup with Quad-LED dual-tone flash and a higher front camera resolution. The Note 4X, on the other hand, has a slightly higher rear camera resolution with a dual-LED flash and a 5MP front camera. We have taken sample shots from both smartphones which readers can view in these links: (Meizu M6 Note and Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X)
Apart from having good performance and viewing experience, both smartphones also carry high capacities of batteries. The M6 Note has 4,000mAh with Quick Charge technology while the Note 4X has a 4,100mAh battery with Fast charging technology as well. Upon testing the former’s smartphone in our video loop test, it turns out that the device can last up to 18 hours and 36 minutes. We have not yet gotten back on the latter’s battery performance as it had problems when we did a review of the unit. However, based on an educated guess, the Note 4X should also have a result close to the M6 Note.
While it may seem that the M6 Note is having the upper hand with the Note 4X, during our review of the device, we encountered problems with it. There were no Google services applications like Google Play in our review unit, however, You can download the Google Play application via the device’s own app store. We cannot change wallpapers and themes as well on the device due to its current system version.
The Meizu M6 Note is priced at CNY1,299PHP 10,471USD 178INR 15,124EUR 170 (~Php9,986.37USD 170INR 14,426EUR 162CNY 1,239) (3GB RAM + 32GB ROM) while the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X is priced at Php6,699USD 114INR 9,677EUR 109CNY 831 (see price listing here).
We are hoping that the company will fix the issues that we encountered during our review with the M6 Note.
