This Google Nexus Prime might be next

There’s this rumor about the next Android Nexus phone that will be released next quarter by Google and they’re naming it the Nexus Prime. The specs are drool-worthy so it definitely attracted a lot of speculative attention.

Samsung Nexus S

The name Google Nexus Prime sounds believable but I thought the name feels like it’s been timed with the showing of Transformers 3. Besides the term “Prime” does not reflect a 3rd-generation Nexus handset.

Well, Samsung was able to convince Google to name their co-branded handset to Nexus S instead of Nexus Two so it’s possible that this time, Samsung (who is rumored to be the partner for this new project) might have a hand with the naming.

But here are some more details — 720p-resolution display (1280×720 pixels) with a Super AMOLED HD, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and a TI OMAP4460 processor (which is a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 MPCore 1.5Ghz and PowerVR SGX540).

If Samsung is the partner, then they should be using a dual-core Orion ARM Cortex-A9 chip with quad-core MALI 400 GPU.

  1. nice…and what will be the expected market price?

  2. anu daw? Ice Cream Sandwhich? Hala! Wala pa akong Android…nako…I need to catch up! Baka kung kelan Android 10.0 Sweet Yam, dun ako magkaroon ng andoid phone! WAH!! :(

    • LOL! Naalala ko tuloy yung dirty ice cream with monay.. :D

    • I was very fortunate to see a funny comment this time! Most of the comments I read from other posts are negative things. Sweet Yam is laugh trip!:D

    • I am with you! I wish it will come out CHEAP with that SPECS!

  3. Eek… I just bought a SGSII, but that looks mighty yummy.

  4. i guess that the partner is LG this time

    • Why, let me guess, because of LG’s Optimus? :))

  5. Stable na ba ang honeycomb? May icecream sandwich na. Gaya ng symbian, di pa narelease ang symbian anna e may symbian belle na

    • Tama! I am happy with Froyo 2.2. I consider myself a techie pero bakit wala naman akong makitang flaw sa Froyo as far as my needs are concerned. Very stable ang Froyo so I wonder why others really want a Gingerbread upgrade and so on. Now eto naman ang Ice Cream sandwich.

    • This should be done or we would be stock with nokia’s menu or android 1.0. I hope android’s apps will be compatible with mainstream os like windows ala sun’s open office to ms’ office.

  6. I’m excited for this phone. The only Android device I have is the Galaxy Tab.

  7. Let me guess! Samsung galaxy s3 specs most likely:

    Super AMOLED HD
    2.0 GHZ DUAL CORE
    2 GB RAM
    ANDROID ICE CREAM SANDWICH

    • that would be crazy!!
hell yeah i just brought sgs2 last month at heto na naman sila. I can’t breath in between…

  8. I think google should give other android manufacturers a chance to make a nexus device. LG should do the next nexus. I love lg’s hardware. Doesn’t feel cheap unlike samsung’s glossy and plasticky appearance.

  9. ugh…and here i am planning to buy sgs2…i have nexus s now, seems like i have to wait for this
i like its simplicity, most of all ^____^

  10. siguro magkakaroon dn ng android blueberry cheesecake!:D gnda naman nito!

    • Pwede! hehe but i think AndroidOS naming is in alphabetical order.

    • Tama! It started with Cupcake. Then Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, and lastly Honeycomb. After Ice Cream Sandwich it would start with letter “J”. Perhaps Jelly, Jam, or Juicyfruit (LOL). Bottomline is, codes are named after desserts. :)

I’m guessing why there are no “A” and “B”. Baka kasi nag-start sa “Beta”. hehe.

    • i still go for the previously suggested firmware name for android.. the Android Yema..

    • i’ll still go for the previously suggested firmware name for android.. the Android Yema..

    • I guess android “A” and “B” would be android alpha and beta…^_^

“android juicyfruit”, reminds me of the bubble gum..hehe

  11. i would like to know who thought of these names?
sana magkaron din ng pinoy sounding firmware name like leche flan & android yema sounds nice. :-)

    • Android yema FTW hahaha. Okaya android halaya. ayos :))

    • Pwede rin Android ChocNut haha!

    • Hahahaha I’m really enjoying the comments here! Kanina it was Sweet Yam, now it’s Android Yema. :D

  12. well i am using the nexus s now and it works real gud no problem. i would like still to see a google prime with a htc body and htc ui latest version that would be unbeatable. i still beleive the prime will be a monster but i prefer to wait for the htc vigor.
