Unboxing: Samsung Galaxy Note 2

Listen to article

Samsung is set to launch the Galaxy Note 2 tomorrow evening and we’ve already reported last week that it’s going to be sold at Php32,990.

The Galaxy Note 2 looks pretty much like the Galaxy S3, only a bit bigger and wider. In fact, one can even think of it as something like the Galaxy S3 XL (we just made that name up) because of the 5.5-inch display.

We did a quick unboxing video of the Galaxy Note 2 yesterday and uploaded the clip to YouTube. Check it out below:

The Galaxy Note 2 will be Samsung’s flagship device once it is locally launched tomorrow. The version that will be released is just the HSPA+ model with the LTE version coming out later (my previous discussion with Globe reps is that they will carry it later under an LTE Plan).

Samsung Galaxy Note II N7100 specs:
5.5″ HD Super AMOLED display @ 1280×720 pixels
Exynos 4 Quad 1.6GHz
2GB RAM
16GB, 32GB, 64GB internal storage
up to 64GB via microSD card
HSPA+ 21Mbps
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, dual band 2.4GHz & 5.0GHz
WiFi Direct
NFC, MHL
Bluetooth 4.0
8MP rear camera, 1080p video recording
1.9MP front-facing camera
GPS with aGPS support
3100mAh Li-Ion battery
Android 4.1 Jellybean

Come back again next week for the full review of this handset.

The Galaxy Note 2 is being sold by Widget City for Php27,850 {see listing here}.

Disclosure: Widget City provided us with this review unit.

Superb item. I actually fully clicked with Unboxing: Samsung
Galaxy Note 2 – YugaTech | Philippines, Tech News & Reviews.
I should not trigger trouble simply by saying this but your blog post brought to mind free psychic love readings which i found out about on the webpage intended for psychic online readings most recently.

Galaxy Note 2 64GB is only available in South Korea. International release models are only available in 16GB and 32GB. It is again subject to Samsung whether or not they will release a 64GB model in the near future.

Most if not all GN2 available for sale before the actual Philippine launch date are mostly from the Middle East. I think they were the first one to have it. There is also no local Samsung official 1yr warranty but only in-house warranty from shop purchased, which is usually 6 months only. Please be informed.

Will the 64gb variant of this phone ever be released in the Philippines? Or even the 32gb one?

I’m only seeing the 16gb variant. :(

Ditto. It seems like a simple enough question to answer for Samsung: Are the 32 and 64 gb versions coming over or not? A simple yes or no wouldn’t hurt. I still can’t buy a Gnote2 because no one, not Samsung PH, not any blog or online shop, seems to know the answer.

I just got mine from Globe yesterday, and, truth be told, it does run like butter! Smooth transitioning and animations — the 2GB of RAM does fit well with the quad-core brain it has. Love the native browser… downloads stuff relatively quickly using an HSPA connection..

This is way better than the first-gen Galaxy Note.

Is it too plasticky?

Is it as buttery smooth as iOS?

Kanina I tried a first-gen Galaxy Note. The screen is not as responsive as the Lumias or my iPhone 4S.

My GS3 is better than iphone 5. Since GNote 2 got 2M of Ram, i think it should be better.

Sorry, 2GB not 2M.
