Apple has introduced new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models powered by the new M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. Announced recently, the updated laptops bring faster performance, improved on-device AI processing, and larger starting storage for professional users.

The new MacBook Pro is designed for developers, designers, video editors, engineers, and other professionals who run heavy tasks on their laptops. Apple said the new chips can deliver up to four times faster AI performance than the previous generation and up to eight times faster compared to MacBook Pro models with the M1 chip. This allows users to run AI tools and models directly on the laptop without relying on cloud services.

Both models also come with faster storage speeds. Apple said the new MacBook Pro can reach up to twice the SSD read and write speed of the previous generation, helping users work faster with large files such as 4K or 8K videos and large datasets. The MacBook Pro with the M5 Pro chip now starts with 1TB of storage, while the model with the M5 Max chip starts with 2TB of storage.

The laptops feature a new CPU and GPU design with Neural Accelerators built into each GPU core. This helps speed up AI tasks such as image generation, video editing, and running large language models. Apple also said graphics performance is up to 50 percent faster than the previous generation.

Other features remain focused on professional work. The MacBook Pro includes a Liquid Retina XDR display with an optional nano-texture finish, Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI with support for up to 8K displays, an SDXC card slot, and MagSafe charging. It also supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 using Apple’s new N1 wireless chip.

The laptop includes a 12MP Center Stage camera, studio-quality microphones, and a six-speaker sound system with Spatial Audio. Apple said the battery can last up to 24 hours, depending on usage.

The new MacBook Pro comes in Space Black and Silver and runs macOS Tahoe, which includes updated search tools, Apple Intelligence features, and system improvements for productivity.

Apple said the device also uses recycled materials and supports the company’s plan to reach carbon neutrality by 2030.
