Apple to retire iTunes

With Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference set to happen on Monday, June 3, rumors are flying around that Apple will be retiring iTunes.

According to a report by Bloomberg, Apple is planning to shut down the app that iOS users utilize to listen to music, watch movies and TV shows, hear podcasts, and manage their devices. iTunes has been around for almost two decades, but it seems like Apple will be launching three apps to replace it.

From the report, it’s noted that Apple is looking to be launching Music, TV, and Podcasts on Macs and MacBooks. The three separate apps already exist on iPhones and iPads, and so it seems that Apple wants to match that. Users may expect the Music app to offer the same functionality as iTunes and manage their iOS devices through it.
