Apple is reportedly gearing up to launch its first AI-powered smart glasses, codenamed “N50,” in 2026, positioning the device as a sleek alternative to bulky headsets and a direct competitor to Meta’s Ray-Ban Meta and Xreal’s Air series.

Inside the N50, Apple is said to be using a custom silicon chip—likely derived from its Apple Watch platform—to analyze the wearer’s surroundings via “Apple Intelligence.” Though true AR overlays remain years away, early prototypes focus on discreet AI features: real-time object recognition, language translation, and turn-by-turn navigation. Unlike the Vision Pro, this form factor will prioritize everyday wearability, with lightweight frames and a battery optimized for all-day use.
In the Philippines, wearable AI has already begun to take hold. Meta’s Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, which combine a 12 MP camera, open-ear speakers, and live translation, launched locally on April 30, 2025, through authorized retailers and online outlets, though some AI functions remain region-locked. Meanwhile, Xreal’s Air AR glasses—available via Lazada and Ubuy for around ₱23,700—deliver a private 130-inch virtual display for gaming, movies, and productivity, proving that Filipino consumers are eager for hands-free experiences.
While Apple has yet to confirm Philippine availability, history suggests its wearables roll out globally within weeks of a U.S. debut. Local Apple Stores and authorized resellers will likely carry the N50 shortly after the international launch, giving Filipino tech fans a chance to test Apple’s take on smart eyewear by mid-2026.
As the smart-glasses market heats up, Apple’s emphasis on seamless iPhone integration, robust privacy controls, and polished design could give it an edge over existing products. If the N50 delivers on reports—combining true “wearable AI” with the hallmark Apple finish—it may redefine what we expect from next-generation eyewear.
