The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has reported over 34 million SIM cards throughout the Philippines have been registered with their respective public telecommunications entities (PTEs) as of February 19.

This accounts for only 20% of the total 168,977,773 SIM cards in the country.
DICT Undersecretary Anna Mae Lamentillo disclosed that a total of 34,483,563 SIM cards were registered on the aforementioned date. Among these, Smart Communications Inc. had 17.7 million, Globe Telecom Inc. had 14.172 million, and DITO Telecommunity Corp. had 2.61 million registered.

Lamentillo encouraged all subscribers to register their SIM and eSIM, emphasizing that no one is exempted from the SIM Registration Law.
During a public briefing, she warned that SIM cards that are not registered after the implementation period—April 26, 2023—will no longer be usable.
With that, the DICT plans to increase its efforts in encouraging more users to register their SIM cards. Lamentillo stated that their information campaign is ongoing and is now focused on the grassroots level.
Under the law, all PTEs must establish their respective registration platforms to onboard users who present valid identification cards.
The implementing rules and regulations (IRR) of the SIM Card Registration Act have been effective since December 27, 2020, after the President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed the measure into law in October 2022.
