Based on the Facebook post of the department, the meeting was attended by DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade, MMDA Chairman Danny Lim, MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia, LTFRB Chairman Martin Delgra III, DOTr Assistant Secretary for Procurement and Project Implementation Giovanni Lopez, DOTr Assistant Secretary for Road Transport and Infrastructure Mark Steven Pastor, and MMDA Assistant General Manager for Operations Asec. Roberto Almadin.

Both agreed to start the building of bike lanes today, June 13.

Ensuring the safety of bikers, the protected bike lanes will be placed on the road with at least 1.5 meters of space. The project will also be done in two phases: one for interim and the other one for the long-term.

The agencies’ decision to build bike lanes on EDSA will improve mobility as people switch to bicycles as a mode of transportation during the coronavirus pandemic.
