Samsung may continue its shift toward in-house processors for its foldable lineup, with a new report claiming that the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip8 will be powered by the Exynos 2600 chipset.
The report, originating from South Korea, follows Samsung’s recent unveiling of the Exynos 2600, the company’s first 2nm mobile processor. The chipset has already been linked to the Galaxy S26 series in select markets, and it now appears that Samsung plans to extend its use to its next-generation clamshell foldable, expected to launch in mid-2026.
If confirmed, this would mark the second consecutive year that Samsung equips its Z Flip series with an Exynos processor. The Galaxy Z Flip7 was the first foldable from the company to feature an Exynos chip, using the Exynos 2500, making the reported move to the Exynos 2600 a logical progression.
The strategy, however, does not seem to apply across Samsung’s entire foldable lineup. According to the same report, the larger Galaxy Z Fold8 is expected to stick with Qualcomm’s top-tier Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, continuing Samsung’s trend of reserving Qualcomm silicon for its premium book-style foldables.
While Samsung has yet to officially confirm chipset details for its 2026 foldables, the report suggests the company is increasingly confident in deploying its latest Exynos processors in high-profile devices, particularly as performance and efficiency improvements narrow the gap with rival chips.
