The Facebook meme page Follow The Trend Movement (FTTM) has received a complaint from a local government unit (LGU) in Caloocan City. It was for cyber libel and unjust vexation from one of FTTM’s meme post.

The Facebook page FTTM has gotten a complaint from Caloocan City’s LGU for cyber libel and unjust vexation. This is in regard to the page’s post referencing Rockstar Games’s upcoming game Grand Theft Auto VI with the caption: “LEAKED: GTA VI Caloocan City.” It had a photo of an employee who works for the Caloocan City Assessment Department driving an ATV.
It turns out that he is a person with disability (PWD) and has filed a complaint with the Caloocan City Prosecutor’s Office against FTTM. It was for alleged violation of Republic Act No. 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act, violation of Republic Act No. 7277 or the Magna Carta for PWDs, and unjust vexation under Article 287 of the Revised Penal Code.
Alexandra Soledad, FTTM’s lawyer, states: “The comparison was directed at the general scene…. It does not in any way attribute to misconduct or malice on the part of the complainant. It was intended to show the concept of GTA, so it’s not intended for him, does not attack him, and there’s no overt act saying he’s being ridiculed.”
The counter-affidavit filing of the Caloocan employee is set on August 13.

Balat sibuyas Caloocan government. Don’t let them silence you FTTM. I saw the meme and it wasn’t even about the ‘victim’. Stop straying from the real issue dahil ampangit talaga ng serbisyo nung nakaupo dito sa Caloocan!
