Apple has announced Final Cut Camera 2.0, the latest version of its video recording app for iOS. The update adds new features optimized for the iPhone 17 series.

For the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max, Final Cut Camera 2.0 now supports ProRes RAW and genlock. In addition, the entire iPhone 17 lineup gains new manual controls for the front camera.

Another key feature is open gate recording, which uses the full camera sensor at resolutions beyond DCI 4K. This allows users to shoot in horizontal or vertical orientation without physically rotating the device.

The update also includes support for Apple Log 2, exclusive to the iPhone 17 Pro models, enabling more flexibility in post-production. Users can also activate Timecode options and record with the telephoto camera in ProRes at up to 4K60 fps.

Final Cut Camera 2.0 will be available later this month as a free download on the App Store. Interested readers can find out more via Apple’s official article on the announcement.
