Google adds memory and chat import tools to Gemini

Listen to article

Google has announced new tools for its Gemini AI that allow users to import memories and chat history from other AI apps.

Google’s new feature lets users transfer personal preferences, past conversations and key details into Gemini. This is so that they don’t have to start the conversation from scratch. This includes information like interests, relationships and previous discussions.

To use it, users can copy a generated summary from another AI app and paste it into Gemini which will then store and use the data for future interactions. Full chat history can also be imported by uploading a ZIP file.

Google is also renaming its ‘past chats’ feature to ‘memory’.

The update is part of Google’s push to make Gemini more personalized and easier to switch to. The feature is rolling out gradually through the app’s settings page.
