HP unveils new 800 series EliteBook professional laptops

HP announced some new hardware today as they refresh their EliteBook line of laptops. The fifth generation EliteBooks come in three variants namely the EliteBook 830, 840, and 850. Check them out below.

All three laptops come in touch and non-touch flavours. Non-touch models come with a special feature — their own webcam cover. This implementation is similar to the one we saw with Lenovo’s ThinkPads that were announced during CES 2018. HP opted to remove this cover on touch models.

Other than that, the new 800 series EliteBooks also have a third microphone at the back of the display panel. The said mic can be in two modes — Individual and Conference. The individual mode turns the microphone into a noise-cancelling device. While Conference mode turns it into a standard microphone for voice pick-up and the like.

The trio sports similar specs, except the 840 and 850 models can be equipped with a dedicated graphics card. The new EliteBooks feature a thin and light frame and have relatively slim side bezels. Design-wise, the notebooks look bland and simple. As mentioned earlier, they similar specs and design apart from the size differences and graphics card configuration.
