The Indonesian government has blocked access to specific online services such as Steam, Epic Games, and more.
The previously said companies including big ones such as PayPal and Yahoo are now banned in Indonesia as the companies failed to comply with a new requirement related to Indonesia’s content moderation laws.
These companies which all under “Private Electronic System Providers” must register with the government’s database in order to operate in the country. The country gave the companies until July 27 to comply and has banned those who didn’t.
The requirement which is part of a bigger law in Indonesia allows the government to obtain data about specific users, as well as coerce companies into removing content that disturbs public order or is considered illegal.
The blocks are not permanent and the companies will have to register in order to have access back.
