iPod touch updated with A10 chipset, 256GB storage

Apple has just announced that it’s refreshing the iPod touch by giving it a new chipset and a new storage option.

The latest iPod touch will now be equipped with an A10 Fusion chipset, replacing the A8 chipset in its previous model. The A10 is the same chipset that powers up the iPhone 7. With the A10, the new iPod touch now allows users to make Group FaceTime call and now has support for AR games. Apart from that, a larger 256GB storage is now included in the offers, joining the 64GB and 128GB models.

Other specs of the iPod touch will be retained, such as the 4-inch screen with an 1136×640 resolution, 8MP rear camera, 1.2MP front camera, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

An entry point iOS device with enough power to play iOS games. It’s very use case is for Apple Arcade, Apple Music (or Spotify) and Apple TV+ (or Netflix). It still has a 3.5 mm jack which most smartphones are losing. The best part is it’s a very small/thin/light piece of computing device. It is also late to market. This could have been announced at the same week as Airpods 2, iPad mini 5, and iPad Air 3.
