The Leica M EV1 has been launched and is now available in the Philippines. This is the first M-series camera to feature an integrated electronic viewfinder (EVF) instead of a traditional optical rangefinder.

The camera has a full metal body made of magnesium and aluminum with a diamond-pattern leatherette cover. However, the camera doesn’t have weather sealing or an IP rating.
It uses a Leica M bayonet mount with 6-bit encoding sensors, equipped with a 60MP BSI CMOS triple-resolution full-frame sensor. Powering it is a Maestro III processor with a 5.76MP 60Hz OLED EVF on the back.
This supports 0.76x magnification and a diopter ranging from -4 to +2. It also has a 3-inch 2.36M-dot fixed LCD touchscreen protected by Gorilla Glass.
The camera has 64GB of memory with a single UHS-II card slot found inside the battery compartment. It uses a pop-out 1,800mAh Li-ion battery that’s rated up to 237 shots via the EVF.
It charges and transfers files via USB Type-C and supports Leica Content Credentials and the Leica FOTOS app. Wireless connectivity options include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

The Leica M EV1 is priced at PHP 544,000. Interested readers can check it out at the Leica Store in Greenbelt 5, Makati.
