Meta is now launching their “Avatars Store” where users can now purchase digital clothing for their own avatars.
Mark Zuckerberg made the announcement on Instagram Live together with Eva Chen, Instagram’s Vice President of Fashion Partnerships. Meta’s Avatars Store will be coming to Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger.
The brands collaborating with Meta at the launch of its Avatars Store are Prada, Balenciaga, and Thom Browne. Some clothes showcased during its announcement were branded hoodies, a motocross outfit, some formal suits, and even Zuckerberg in a cropped shirt and low-rise jeans.
“Digital goods will be an important way to express yourself in the metaverse and a big driver of the creative economy. I’m excited to add more brands and bring this to VR soon too.” – Mark Zuckerberg, Meta CEO
Meta hasn’t revealed any more information on pricing and how digital clothes would be accessed. It is also worth noting that free options for digital clothing will still be made available.
