OpenAI officially releases text-to-video model ‘Sora’

Listen to article

OpenAI, the developer behind ChatGPT, has now officially released its text-to-video generator—Sora.

Using Sora is as intuitive as other AI tools like ChatGPT. Simply describe the video you envision, and the AI conjures it into existence.

Videos can be generated in crisp 1080p resolution, with a maximum length of 20 seconds. Widescreen, vertical, and square formats cater to various needs.

Users with ChatGPT Plus account can access the program through the link sora.com. However, as of writing, account creation is currently unavailable due to heavy traffic.

Access to Sora requires a ChatGPT Plus subscription—USD 20 per month gets you 50 videos at 480p resolution, with the option for fewer, higher-quality clips.

Upgrading to “Pro” unlocks ten times the usage, longer videos, and glorious HD resolution.

Furthermore, OpenAI remains vigilant in the fight against misuse. All Sora-generated videos are embedded with C2PA metadata, a digital fingerprint that identifies their AI origin.

Visible watermarks are another layer of protection. Additionally, OpenAI is actively blocking the creation of harmful content like child sexual abuse material and deepfakes.
