Smart launches first 5G Standalone network in Iloilo City

Smart Communications has launched its first 5G Standalone (SA) network in Iloilo City. To celebrate, a free concert was held at the K-Town Festive Walk Parade last August 30 with over 5,200 attendees.

Also called True 5G, Smart’s 5G SA network runs on a dedicated 5G core that delivers lower latency, faster speeds, and higher capacity. The company also rolled out upgrades to expand 5G coverage and capacity across Iloilo.

Themed ‘Sakses Ka Na!,’ the concert featured performances from Kreonz, First Edition, DJ Young, and Flow G. Participating hosts included Jackie Gonzaga and Jordan Toledo entertaining the crowd with games and prizes.

Smart highlighted the benefits of its 5G SA technology during the event. This includes smoother streaming, faster uploads and downloads, and improved mobile gaming.

To make the network more accessible, Smart introduced exclusive offers for 5G SA-ready devices. Among brands part of the offers were HONOR, OPPO, Samsung, vivo, and ZTE.

Some attendees noted the advantage of the faster network for games like Mobile Legends, streaming on YouTube, and social media updates. Smart’s 5G SA launch in Iloilo is the first in the Philippines.
