SpaceX is partnering with Geometric Energy Corporation (GEC) to launch a digital billboard in space, which is payable with crypto.

GEC is working on building an advertisement satellite, which will be launched into orbit on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket early next year.
Samuel Reid, CEO, and co-founder of GEC said the company is in the process of building a satellite called a CubeSat. One side of the satellite will have a pixelated display screen where the advertisements, logos, and art will appear, Reid said, in a report by Business Insider.
Once in orbit, the selfie stick will capture footage of the display screen and livestream it on YouTube or Twitch.
According to Reid, businesses, advertisers, artists, and anyone else who’s interested may be able to put their illustrations on the CubeSat’s display screen by buying a pixel with cryptocurrencies. Besides, GEC hopes to be able to support payments in Dogecoin in the future.
In addition, to advertise on the CubeSat, people have to buy tokens to claim, locate, and design a pixel on the display screen.
“I’m trying to achieve something that can democratize access to space and allow for decentralized participation,” Reid said to Business Insider. “Hopefully, people don’t waste money on something inappropriate, insulting, or offensive.”
However, there’s no word yet about how much each CubeSat token would cost.
